industrial rotary screw air compressor

1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment when inspecting, operating, monitoring, repairing, or maintaining the air compressor.

2. Fire and Explosion Prevention

  1. Immediately clean up any spilled lubricating oil or other flammable materials.
  2. Avoid open flames, sparks, or combustible materials. Do not smoke or handle open flames near the compressor, especially during oil inspection or refilling. Maintenance must only be performed when the compressor is completely shut down and cooled.
  3. Prevent oil from accumulating on sound insulation materials or on the surfaces of the compressor and its panels. Clean any oil with a non-flammable detergent or steam. Replace insulation materials if necessary, especially when the protective layer is damaged.
  4. Disconnect all power sources before performing any cleaning or maintenance inside the unit.
  5. Ensure all electrical circuits (including terminals and contactors) are functioning properly. Replace any damaged or corroded wires and maintain cleanliness of electrical components.
  6. Keep grounded or conductive objects (e.g., tools) away from exposed electrical parts to prevent arcing.
  7. During welding operations, remove nearby insulation or flammable materials to avoid damage or fire.
  8. Always have adequate fire extinguishers available when operating or servicing the compressor.
  9. Keep flammable materials such as oily rags or waste paper away from the compressor.
  10. Do not start the compressor if the cooling or lubrication system is malfunctioning (e.g., blocked water, air, or oil flow).

3. Moving Parts

  1. Keep hands, arms, clothing, and other body parts away from moving components such as couplings and fans.
  2. Never operate the compressor without protective guards installed on fans, couplings, or other rotating parts.
  3. Wear fitted clothing and secure long hair when working near high-temperature or moving components.
  4. Keep all machine doors closed during operation unless performing maintenance.
  5. Before starting the machine, ensure that no one is inside the unit enclosure.
  6. Disconnect all power sources and ensure all circuits are de-energized before performing adjustments or maintenance, especially when the control panel is remote.
  7. Keep the working area clean and dry. Remove any oil, water, or debris to prevent slips.

4. High-Temperature Surfaces and Sharp Edges

  1. Avoid contact with hot oil, coolant, or any high-temperature surfaces, as well as sharp edges or corners.
  2. Never stand directly in front of the exhaust outlet.

5. Toxic and Irritant Substances

  1. Do not use compressed air for breathing unless it complies with applicable legal and safety standards.
  2. Operate compressors only in open or well-ventilated areas.
  3. Ensure the compressor is not located in areas with toxic or corrosive gases.
  4. Use only lubricants specified for industrial compressors. Avoid skin contact or ingestion. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water.

6. Electrical Shock Prevention

  1. Installation and maintenance must comply with national and local electrical codes and grounding regulations, and must be performed by qualified personnel.
  2. Keep your body, tools, and conductive objects away from exposed electrical parts. Stand on insulated material, keep your feet dry, and use only one hand when handling live circuits to reduce the risk of electric current passing through the heart.
  3. Perform maintenance only in clean, dry, and well-lit environments.
  4. Do not leave the machine unattended before closing the electrical box. If necessary, post warning signs to prevent accidental startup.
  5. Always disconnect power and attach warning labels before working on rotating parts or ungrounded conductors.

7. Other Precautions

  1. If entering the compressor enclosure for adjustment or inspection, notify other personnel and place a visible warning sign outside. Secure the door open to prevent accidental closure.
  2. Before closing the enclosure door, ensure that no one remains inside the unit.
